Highlights: Watch Manny Pacquiao vs Joshua Clottey Free Online Video Live Streaming Promotions and Manny Pacquiao’s camp agreed to fight Joshua Clottey on March 13, 2010. This is the result of the failed negotiations of the megafight Pacquiao vs Mayweather. After both camps didn’t agree with the terms of the fight (specifically the method of drug testing), Bob Arum announced that the pound for pound king will be fighting against the Ghana-native boxer. When I read about this news, I really find it to be a very easy fight for the Filipino fighter. This conclusion is just based on Clottey’s fight against Miguel Cotto (who was beaten by Pacman on their last match).

Iloilo National High School on Wikipedia

The Iloilo National High School (INHS) is a provincial high School located in Iloilo City, Philippines.

The history of the Iloilo High School dates back to the later part of 1902 when a school called the Iloilo Normal School was established in a two-storey building in front of and across the street of the present Provincial Building (now Casa Plaza) to meet the future need for Filipino teachers. The minimum requirement for admission was the completion of the elementary education in the old Spanish schools. The first batch of teachers were selected from experienced American teachers. The first principal was Mr. Lutz, who, despite his past sixty years, was a very kind and understanding man. The initial enrolment was about 250 and was divided into 5 sections. By 1903, the school had a very active literary society called Philomathean and had also a strong baseball team.

In 1904, Mr. Covell succeeded Mr. Lutz as principal. To accommodate more students, preparatory classes were organized. For the first time Filipino students were selected as government pensionados to continue their studies in the United States. Among those selected were Candido Alcazar, Ambrosio Gison, Delfin Jaranilla, Carlos Lopez, Leon Nava, Balbino Palmares, Graciano Rico, Cirilo Torreblanca and Felix Valencia.

In 1905, Mr. Maxson succeeded Mr. Covell as principal. The pensionados then were Geronimo Huising, Isabelo Lagniton, Claro Pendon, and Pedro Sindico. The yearly appointment of pensionados and heavy demand for teachers and clerks in the different government offices greatly depleted the number of old students. The original 5 sections were consolidated into 2 sections. The first section was for more advanced students. Courses in Psychology and History of Pedagogy were given to this section. At the end of the first semester, the school was transferred to a new site at La Paz, Iloilo City the present school site of the Iloilo High School. The governor-general of the Philippines at that time was Mr. Smith while the governor of Iloilo was Don Benito Lopez. The school building was a two-storey affair, built at the expense of the Provincial Government of Iloilo of cement footing, wooden structure and galvanized-iron roofing. Don Francisco Jalandoni y Habana, a soldier and a philanthropist donated the land upon which it was built. The school building consisting of around 10 classrooms was faced with a serious problem of a lack of students. At that time, the school building was a solitary object in the midst of rice and sugarcane fields and looked more like a glorified farmhouse. It was a main gate now popularly called the “Bola-Bola” with its concrete side walk balustrade and 4 massive spare columns, each supporting a globe that gave the school a distinctive atmosphere of a special school. The governor-general personally inaugurated the new site while the lone Filipino student speaker during the program was Tomas Confesor. During this year, some fifth graders from neighboring public schools were “ordered” to transfer to the high school. From the normal school came Aurelio Montinola, Angelo Salazar, Jose Orbe, Jose Octaviano and others. The Jaro Intermediate School contributed Daniel Ledesma, Faustino Muñol, Jose Fullon and others. It must be noted that Rufino Martinez and Claro Pendon earlier came from Iloilo Central School. Among the early American teachers were Mr. Gamil who taught Mathematics and later became Superintendent of Schools; Mr. Reed, History; Dr. Pudil, English; Mr. Beaty, English; Mr. Bloomfield, Botany; Mr. Bosseart, Zoology; Mrs. Hollard, Political Economy (now Economics); Mr. Lanthorne, Mathematics; Ms. Mary Polly, English and Composition; and others.

In 1907, the number of old students were further reduced. Many accepted teaching jobs in the interior towns and some became supervising teachers and principals. Only 5 students reported in the first section at the opening of the school year. While this was going on, classes on industries for grades 5 and 6 were held in the Girls Dormitory whose building was located at the present site of the Office of the Division Superintendent of Iloilo under Mrs. Williams, the dormitory matron, and among those who enrolled in these classes were Maria Magalona, Paz Montinola and Purita Varona. Mr. Welch, the principal, was at the same time teaching Spanish and Latin although he had to brush up his Spanish before students who were more or less at home with the Castillan language. This was the only school in the entire province, which offered secondary courses. The status of the school as a normal school was untenable. It could not continue giving normal school courses because there were not enough students prepared to take them. It was then decided to set for graduation the 5 students of the first section at the end of the school year not as normal school graduates but as high school graduates.
